Radiesse Dermal Filler Injections

The Radiesse® treatment offered by the Westchester Center for Dermatology in Scarsdale offers long-lasting relief from the effects of aging by removing wrinkles, smile lines, unwanted facial lines and more. It is also used to fill areas of the face that have developed volume loss, resulting in what some have called a noninvasive face lift.

What Is a Radiesse® Treatment?

Radiesse® is an FDA approved product, originally used to treat paralyzed vocal chords. It contains calcium hydroxylapatite, one of the ingredients of natural bone. As a naturally occurring substance in our bodies, Radiesse® does not require allergy testing and does not trigger an immune response or chronic inflammation. It is one of the newer tissue fillers.

Our certified cosmetic & medical dermatologists administer Radiesse® treatments from both of our offices located in Manhattan and Scarsdale, NY.

How is Radiesse® Different From Juvéderm or Restylane?

Radiesse treatments last longer than Restylane or Juvéderm treatments. Unlike other fillers, it is used to correct volume loss rather than only fill wrinkle lines.

Which Conditions Does Radiesse® Treat?

Radiesse® is used either to offset the wrinkles and other effects of aging or to provide an enhancement to your looks. It is frequently used as a noninvasive substitute for face lifts, although the “lifting”is not as significant.

How Is The Radiesse® Treatment Performed?

Radiesse® is administered by injections in the area to be treated, and its effects can last as long as five years. A topical anesthetic cream is applied to reduce discomfort, and the entire process takes place in at the Westchester Center for Dermatology, not in a hospital setting. The procedure can take from fifteen to forty-five minutes to complete, after which you may return to work and carry on all normal activities.

What Should I Expect During the Treatment?

The injections may cause a mild and temporary discomfort. Slight swelling may occur after the treatment, along with tenderness, but is gone within a day or two. Bruising may occur and can last up to two weeks, but can be covered with makeup.

What Should I Expect Following the Treatment?

It is best to avoid touching the area that was treated for a few days, and after the redness and swelling have gone, do not expose the treated area to extreme temperature. Bruising and bleeding may be increased if you take aspirin during the recovery period, and if you’ve been prone to facial cold sores, the treatment may cause an eruption.

What Should I Expect Long Term following my treatment?

The length of time that our Radiesse® treatment stays in the skin very much depends on the individual. One to two years is a reasonable time period to expect for improvement. Patients will sometimes come in to our dermatology offices after six to twelve months for touch ups after the initial treatment.

Why Should I Choose the Westchester Center for Dermatology for my skincare treatments?

Our doctors are all Board Certified Dermatologists who have trained in filler delivery during their residency training. The experience of our dermatologists in this field is second to none.
